Modular PV string monitoring system for up to 32 strings

In ground-mounted photovoltaic systems, the electrical parameters of the PV strings must be constantly monitored. This is the only way owners and operators can maintain the performance and yield of their systems in the long term.

The new PV String Monitoring System is integrated into the DC combiner boxes of plants with central inverters. It is designed to monitor the current and voltage of the individual strings as well as the current SPD and breaker status in the combiner box.

Due to its modular design, the system can monitor up to 32 strings and measure up to 50 A per string. It is powered by plant current, can communicate wirelessly, and has low heat emission.

Special features:
  • Compact and powerful - The new PV string monitoring system can monitor up to 32 strings and measure up to 50 A per string. The compact design with integrated DC/DC converter and communication hardware makes it particularly powerful.
  • Wireless communication capability - The system can transmit data either via RS-485 cable or wirelessly to the SCADA system. For wireless transmission, a LoRa RF module must be plugged onto the master module.
  • Modular design - The system has Hall-effect sensor modules with 8 or 12 measuring channels and is available with 25 and 50 A per module. This allows monitoring of up to 3-string inputs as well as high-power and bifacial solar panels.

String monitoring with Transclinic xi+

Continuous surveillance of your PV system

The Transclinic xi+ series continuously monitors the power from single strings or groups of strings as well as the voltage of a Photovoltaic system and thereby permits detailed monitoring of the system. Negative influences, which lead to reduced output power, can be detected immediately allowing rapid repairs or adjustments to be made to the system.

Do not oversize your system just to ensure the output power expected. A good surveillance of the system allows to have an efficient and optimized system running easily. With a trackrecord higher than 115.000 devices sold all around the world in many different environments during the last 12 years, the quality, the robustness and the optimal performance of the Transclinic xi+ product range is ensured.

String monitoring with Transclinic xi+
Special features:
  • Various monitor options – As standard single strings with up to 16 inputs and a maximum Isc of 25Amps per input can be monitored. Nevertheless, it is possible to balance less inputs with more current (i.e. 10 inputs with Isc of 30Amps).
  • Efficient double (or even triple) string monitoring – with more than one string monitoring, two (or even three) strings can be monitored via one input. This reduces the number of connections requested and is a good compromise between single string monitoring and zone monitoring.
  • Reduction of maintenance costs – all wiring is done with PUSH-IN connectors. There is no need to check the torque as required with screw connections. No further connection testing is necessary during the entire service life of the system.
  • Reliable even under extreme conditions – Transclinic 16i+ 1k5 H allows the measurement of the current event at 70ºC with an accuracy of ±1% (voltage/current). This helps pair and triple monitoring in combiner boxes in difficult environments by using only one string monitor and optimising the cost of the solution.
  • RS485 SPD on board – A specific overvoltage protection for RS485 interfaces is already integrated to increase robustness and reliability of the device throughout its operational lifetime.
