Our path to a zero-emission future

We are committed to consistent climate protection and are paving the way to a sustainable future. In doing so, we are guided by international climate targets and integrate them into our daily activities. We are continuously reducing our emissions through the use of renewable energies and innovative efficiency measures. This is how we accept responsibility for the climate and the environment – today and tomorrow.

Climate neutrality and energy management

We are active in promoting climate protection and want to support the Paris Climate Agreement. In doing so, we follow the guidelines of the EU and the German government and align our actions with them. With our climate strategy for 2030, we want to gradually reduce emissions in Germany and meet the statutory targets.

Our target: a climate-neutral company. To do this, we reduce greenhouse gases such as CO₂, methane and nitrous oxide and convert their impact into comparable values. We reduce emissions, rely on renewable energies and continuously improve our energy efficiency. This is how we ensure a sustainable and secure energy supply – today and in the future.

Our climate target for 2030

The Weidmüller Group in Germany aims to reduce 35% of its Scope 1 and 2 emissions (based on 2019 levels) by 2030.
This target is based on the sector targets of the Federal Government within the meaning of the Climate Protection Act.

Scope 1 & 2: Reduction pathway

Our reduction pledge on the way to becoming a climate-neutral company stipulates that we reduce our GHG emissions for all German companies in the Weidmüller Group* by 35% by 2030. This will enable us to achieve our target of reducing annual Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in Germany from 14,000 tonnes of CO2e in 2019 to 9,000 tonnes of CO2e by 2030.

Scope 1 & 2: Target achievement

Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide affect the atmosphere to varying degrees. To make this effect (CO2e) comparable, the various greenhouse gases are converted into CO2 equivalents and summarised. The target achievement represents a total saving of 31,000 t CO2e over a period of ten years. By constantly substituting existing energy sources, using sustainable energy products and other energy efficiency measures, we are making an active contribution to climate protection and continue to ensure Weidmüller’s sustainable and future-oriented energy supply. We are constantly working to minimise climate-damaging CO2e emissions.

Product carbon footprint

  • By the end of 2030, Weidmüller will have calculated a PCF for at least 80% of its products, measured in terms of turnover.
