Berlin / Detmold, June 29, 2017. The German Design Council and the German Brand Institute awarded the German Brand Award in the category "Excellence in Brand Strategy, Management and Creation" to the Detmold-based electrical engineering company Weidmüller in Berlin on June 29, 2016. More than 500 invited guests from business, politics and the media attended the event in the DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum in Berlin to celebrate the winners of the prestigious award. Marc Götte, responsible for global brand management at Weidmüller, explains: "Our brand positioning is an important success factor for our company and the jury's decision proves that we have successfully established the Weidmüller brand". "Therefore, the award is a great honour and we are particularly proud to receive the award for the second time in a row."

The independent jury of experts was particularly impressed by Weidmüller's goal-driven brand management in the automation and digitalisation market. This included internal as well as external branding and the transition to a sustainable brand management process ensuring awareness of the Weidmüller brand in customers and stakeholders. Marc Götte explains: "Today, customers and employees experience the brand not only through individual media channels or one-dimensional brand messages, but they are also gaining a lot of comprehensive communication, service and product experience from a greater number of contact points. And we have to manage this diversity."
The outcome of this process are innovative products and solutions for digitalisation and automation, concrete solutions for the Industry 4.0 domain and a positive public perception as pioneer in digitalisation and automation. Weidmüller speaker of the Executive Board Jörg Timmermann explains: "Our brand and its positioning are key components of our success. It creates the basis for innovation, growth and long-term commitment to our company."
The German Brand Award is an award that honours successful brand management in Germany. Its goal is to identify, present and award unique brands and their creators while not only advancing the winners but the entire industry. The nominated projects were evaluated on the basis of brand-typical features, differentiation from competitors, homogeneity of presentation, individuality, degree of innovation, relevance for society, symbolic and emotional value, design quality, target group relevance and economic success.
