Detmold, 3 December 2018. In the atrium in Detmold, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Executive Board and Works Council thanked employees for their many years of loyalty to and solidarity with the company. In a festive atmosphere, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Christian Gläsel was the first to address the guests of honour: "Each of the years when you joined the company was a formative one for Weidmüller. 1968 was when my father joined the company. By 1978 we were already represented in ten different countries. And in 1993 we introduced the W-Series of terminal blocks. These and our current achievements would not have been possible without dedicated employees such as yourselves."
Gathered on one stage with the Management Board and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board: 31 jubilees from three years of joining Weidmüller exchanged ideas about their time at Weidmüller.
In their joint opening speech, the Weidmüller Group's three board members also took a look back at the years when the honoured employees joined the company. Chief Marketing and Sales Officer José Carlos Álvarez Tobar took the guests of honour on a journey through time to the years 1968 and 1978. "1968 was the year when Willi Waechter joined the company, and today he has become the first person in the history of our company to work here for 50 years. In 1978, those of you celebrating 40 years at the company were seven out of a total of 988 employees. You all were and still are crucial "engines" behind our success. And for that we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts". Volker Bibelhausen, who has been the company's Chief Technology Officer since September 2018, used his speech to address those who had been with the company since 1993: "In August 1993 there were already 1,363 permanent employees working in Detmold, and we also put down roots outside Detmold for the first time with the relocation of our sales and marketing entity from Berlebeck to Paderborn".
The highlight of the event involved presenting the employees with gifts in the form of a Weidmüller pin in silver or gold, and a gold coin. The entire Executive Board congratulated each of the long-serving employees in person.
At the end of the ceremony, Jörg Timmermann addressed the guests of honour and their families one last time: "Thank you for your loyalty, your commitment and your dedication – both from me personally and on behalf of my colleagues on the Executive Board. And of course we should not forget to thank your wives, husbands and partners. The support that you give as family is vital".
