German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, senior management circle, Industry 4.0
Industry representatives in the ZVEI Industry 4.0 management circle work hand in hand with users on specific Industry 4.0-related application scenarios. The goal is to pool the core competencies of companies in the electronics industry and be a point of contact for Plattform Industrie 4.0 (platform for Industry 4.0), a joint initiative of the associations BITKOM (German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media), VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association). At the same time, the senior managers of the Führungskreis Industrie 4.0 circle are entrusted with the task of keeping the member companies updated about the latest developments in “Industry 4.0”.
ZVEI working group for system aspects
The working group for system aspects in the Fachverband Automation (specialist automation trade association division of ZVEI) is responsible for observing and assessing the impact of existing and future technologies, norms and standards pertaining to products and systems developed by automation technologies. Their efforts play an important role in deriving technological trends and forecasts. The working group pursues the goal of precisely defining the term and scope of Industry 4.0, revealing development trends and presenting references and recommendations for ZVEI member companies.
Plattform Industry 4.0
Plattform Industrie 4.0 is a joint initiative of German business associations BITKOM, VDMA and ZVEI for the development and implementation of the future project “Industry 4.0, the High-tech Strategy”, an initiative of the German Federal Government. In Industry 4.0, information/communication and automation/production technologies will be interlinked more closely than ever before. The goal is to safeguard and consolidate the traditional core of the German industry and its role as a global leader.
acatech - German academy of science and engineering
The goal of this project is to develop recommendations on action, based on an international comparison and potential future scenarios, for the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Germany. The main focus is on international benchmarking and a comparison with other areas that are included in the recommendations.
The Association of German Engineers (VDI) – technical committee for cyber-physical systems (CPS)
The technical committee for cyber-physical systems was founded in May 2012 following the publication of the “Integrated Research Agenda on Cyber-physical Systems” in Germany. The expert panel's priorities include: the analysis of CPS, designing CPS, CPS applications, CPS components and their features, and case studies of CPS in automation.
ODVA SIG (Open DeviceNet Vendors Association, special interest group) DeviceNet of Things
The working group “DeviceNet of Things” will focus on developing enhancements to the ODVA specifications that will enable the expanded adoption of DeviceNet to comparatively low-cost, simple industry devices that today are typically hardwired in the command-control and communication architecture of industrial plants. The goal is to provide cost-effective solutions for users to connect many new types of devices into DeviceNet and to eliminate expensive and complex gateways by using a blended DeviceNet-EtherNet/IP system.
