Weidmüller has been supplying certified enclosure solutions to the process industry for many years now. Due to the saturation of the market, material requirements have shifted to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of installed infrastructures – known as brownfield development projects. These require low product volumes with shorter lead times.
“We know exactly what the increasing industry demands entail and are thus gearing our market segments to the exact needs of our customers,” explains Shaun Knox, Process Industry Manager at Weidmüller. “To this end, we are developing relationships with a number of strategically oriented companies that provide very important services for the sector and are crucial in the rapid delivery of products: the Third-Party Assemblers.”
With the assembly partner Dron & Dickson, the expertise of both companies is collated and developed into customer-specific Klippon® Protect solutions for use in challenging environments
Strategic partnerships with Third-Party Assemblers (TPAs) are carefully selected, whereby customer and market proximity are important criteria in the decision-making process. The local presence of the TPAs particularly benefits those customers operating in dangerous environments and for whom time-to-market and service are important prerequisites for remaining competitive. “The TPA network essentially shares our corporate values, providing customers with expert support as well as high-quality and speedy service,” reported Knox.
Dron & Dron & Dickson is one of Weidmüller’s long-standing partners and has adapted so well to the process market dynamic that it has become a specialist provider in the sector. Weidmüller’s licensing and instruction allows us to meet customer
expectations with customised Klippon® Protect solutions”, reported Bruce McHattie, Wholesale Operations Manager at Dron & Dickson.
Customers place their trust in the quality of the Weidmüller product. This is assured by annual training sessions and assessments, formal examination via a recognised external certification authority as well as subsequent entry into Weidmüller’s ex-accreditation list. All TPAs are listed in the IECEx Quality Assurance Register (QAR).
“Weidmüller has always proved to be a reliable partner and consequently we are confident of continued commercial success,” said McHattie. Weidmüller likewise describes the cooperation as being positive: “The development of the current Klippon® TBMH enclosure with its unique features, such as the door fastening with several hinges, the IGB fastening system for gland plates and the seal compression protection, has provided our partners with a strategic advantage over other leading suppliers of this type of equipment.”
The IGB fastening system as well as the compression protection for seals demonstrably extend the servicelife during application. The special multi-hinge feature

enables the end-user to either mount the door in a left or right-handed configuration, allowing maximum accessibility. Weidmüller additionally conforms to a wide range of national and international product approvals, including ATEX, IECEx, UL/CSA, INMETRO, KOSA and EAC.
"In the future, we will expand our TPA network as well as our electronics solutions, control stations, status indicators, field bus components, proximity switches and intrinsic safety equipment," Knox was pleased to say.
