Hanover / Detmold, 9 February 2017. The world’s biggest industrial exhibition will open its doors once more at the Hanover Exhibition Centre in around ten weeks’ time. But participants were today given an initial impression of what the 70th edition of the trade fair will involve with the Hannover Messe Preview. The Weidmüller Group from Detmold was also there and presented its latest industrial analytics solution to a good 120 participating journalists from all over the world using an app it developed in-house. The electronics specialist used the app to demonstrate how its customers can generate tangible added value from machinery data acquired in their production facilities. “The significance of data and data analytics is growing, and the need for networking solutions for devices – particularly machines – is constantly on the rise,” explains Marion Sommerwerck, Head of Corporate Communications at the Weidmüller Group. “So we’re delighted that we received such positive feedback from the journalists with regard to our analytics solution.”
Around 120 national and international journalists found out from Weidmüller about the corporate group’s latest solution for data-driven services as part of the Hannover Messe Preview.
For Weidmüller, the topics of Industry 4.0 and digitalisation have been a key focus for several years already. In this regard, the international company with its head office in Detmold makes use of digitalisation both as a provider and as a user. “We are already represented on the market with products and solutions for Industry 4.0 and we will continue to build on the range of services we offer over the next few years,” explains Michael Matthesius, Head Global Industry Manager for Machine Construction. “At the same time, with our industrial analytics solution we are tapping into new business fields and are offering our customers added value from their data based on our own experiences in our own production facilities.”
At the Hannover Messe Preview, Weidmüller clarified this concept using a specially developed app, which demonstrates the advantages for companies and illustrates initial findings from pilot projects. “On the whole, increasing numbers of companies are realising that smart services are very important for future corporate success,” explains Tobias Gaukstern, Head of Industrial Analytics at the Weidmüller Group. “We want to enable our customers to use our solution to turn data-driven services into a reality and have developed a platform-independent approach for precisely this purpose. The use of artificial intelligence methods and the combination of both domain-related and analytics know-how enables our customers to derive tangible added value from their production data.”
So the solution developed by Weidmüller fits in perfectly with the motto of this year’s Hannover Messe (namely “Integrated Industry – Creating Value”) and the focus on applications and new business models that tap into new markets and offer companies tangible added value. “Industry 4.0, digitalisation and automation are key topics of the industry we are permanently linked to. We want to use them to offer our customers tangible added value for their applications,” adds Ms Sommerwerck. “So the motto is perfect for us as a solution provider and partner of Industrial Connectivity.”
