Detmold/ Nürtingen/Hanover, 28 April 2016. The remote maintenance and cloud services sectors are becoming increasingly relevant within industrial automation technology. In future, the Weidmüller Group and ADS-TEC will be joining forces to increase customer benefits. The two partners will operate a shared connectivity platform, develop it further and produce high-performance products on this basis within their own markets. An agreement to this effect was signed yesterday at the Hannover Messe by the Chief Executive Officer of the Weidmüller Group, Dr Peter Köhler and the Managing Director of ADS-TEC, Thomas Speidel.
The cooperation is based on the Big-LinX cloud platform from ADS-TEC, which has been successful in the market for many years. Weidmüller is using it as the base technology for its new u-link remote maintenance solution. The benefits for the user are simple, easy to learn operation navigation and a heartbeat function. The platform also has an extraordinarily high security level. As the first stage in this cooperation,

Weidmüller will present a new u-link standard version at the Hanover Messe 2016, which adds important functions such as access hierarchy, extended reporting and guaranteed availability and bandwidth to the previous entry version.
Both partners were very optimistic about the prospects for the shared activities. "Secure remote maintenance is a key technology for the further implementation of Industry 4.0. We each have the right expertise to take this further," explains Dr Peter Köhler. "The joint approach reinforces the solid platform and allows broad access in terms of the internet of things," agrees Speidel.
The start of the cooperation is still subject to approval by the relevant monopolies authorities.
