Over 200 guests, external partners and employees of Weidmüller yesterday celebrated the 10th anniversary of the electrical engineering specialist's Weidmüller Academy in the “Sommertheater”. With the founding of the Academy in 2003, the company established a platform for the exchange of knowledge and for in-service training / education which now addresses the group's international educational issues. In addition to numerous guests from the region, the head of the Lippe district authority Friedel Heuwinkel, mayoral Rainer Heller, IHK-President Ernst-Michael Hasse and Dr. Nikolaus Risch, President University Paderborn, were also present at the celebration.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Christian Gläsel, emphasised in his address that the Academy is an expression of the family company's sense of responsibility. “It is important for us that we ensure a successful future for our company, and at the same time make a worthwhile contribution to society.”
Weidmüller CEO Dr. Peter Köhler and Christian Gläsel, chairman of the supervisory board, congratuleted the team of the Academy.
In addition to the Peter Gläsel Foundation, the Weidmüller Academy is an important component of this commitment. “The quality of training determines the quality of the future – the Academy and its numerous projects, from careers guidance to in-service training, make a sustained contribution in this area.”
Dr. Eberhard Niggemann, Director of the Weidmüller Akademie, then took the guests through the highlights of the last ten years. The apprentices and external partners were also given an opportunity to speak. Ruben Golüke, currently undertaking a dual course of studies, told how Weidmüller aroused his enthusiasm for engineering during work experience, and how he now combines theory and practice in his studies.
The participants were especially glad to receive congratulations from China. Annie Jiang, a colleague who leads the offshoot of the Weidmüller Academy in Shanghai, expressed her congratulations by video.
Completely in tune with the Academy's philosophy of “Networking knowledge, expanding horizons,” Prof. Gerhard Roth gave new impulses in the area of training with his talk, “What should learning look like in the future.”
