Industrial serial/Ethernet converter
Easy to integrate serial devices into industrial Ethernet networks
Weidmüller’s new serial/Ethernet converters are ideally suited for industrial automation applications where serial port devices (such as control systems, meters, motors, drives, bar code readers or displays with RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 ports) must be integrated into Ethernet networks. By incorporating existing automation equipment, users have investment protection. Another advantage of the converter is that devices with Fieldbus independent configurations can be operated and configured remotely over the Ethernet communication.
Cascade series connection of several serial/Ethernet converters
With this Ethernet network configuration, components with serial interfaces (RS-232/-422/-485), such as control systems, scanners or meters, can be easily accessed (e.g. via PC). There are two Ethernet ports on the device which can be used as Ethernet switch ports. This helps to reduce your cabling costs since you no longer need to connect each device with a separate Ethernet switch.
