Omnimate Housings CH20M6
New 6-mm electronics housing with optional mounting-rail bus.
- The bus connection facilitates supplying power to, connecting and networking all modules belonging to the 'CH20M' family of housings.
- 'CH20M6' offers what is to date the highest possible use of space of a 6 mm housing.
- Fully automatic manufacture of component assemblies through SMT-capable connection elements and SMD bus contact block.
Weidmüller is supplementing its modular electronics housing system 'CH20M' (Component Housing IP20 Modular) for individual electronics solutions with an extremely slim 6 mm variant 'CH20M6'. The new electronics housing including an optional mounting rail bus is characterised by what is to date the greatest possible use of space of any 6 mm housing. That offers the development engineer maximum layout and marking space.
SMT capable connection elements as well as an SMD-bus contact block facilitate automatic component assembly. Production benefits from the fact that the 6 mm electronics housing can be processed from start to finish in ‘reflow’ soldering operations – an extremely cost-efficient method, as no subsequent manual rework is required. The new 5-channel mounting rail bus offers a solution for supplying power to, connecting and networking all modules from the CH20M family of housings – from the 6-mm slice version to the 22.5 mm and through to the 67 mm large capacity housing. As is the case with the PCB connection technology the bus contact block is designed for the SMT "reflow" process and is supplied ready for automatic placement.
More space with the smallest possible footprint: thanks to its minimum installation and real-estate requirements the compact 6 mm electronics housing "CH20M6" not only racks up points in the electrical cabinet but also through its density of functionality as well as in the process environment. The new electronics housing is the ideal platform for all slice applications; for instance, both as a 'stand-alone' solution as well as in bus operations with a central power supply or for intelligent linking of distributed functions in decentralised operations. From design to fabrication through to deployment this is simply a compelling solution. Common design characteristics ensure the "CH20M6" slice variant fits seamlessly into the modular and scalable "CH20M" housing system, which includes housings up to 67 mm. The modular "CH20M" electronics housing system packages individual electronics assemblies for installation in electrical cabinets or distribution systems. The housing series has been designed for mounting onto TS 35 top-hat rails (DIN EN 60715). The installation depth in the electrical cabinet is 115 mm, the installation height 105 mm.
The standard configuration of the 6.0 mm wide "CH20M6" SlimLine housing has four connection levels with a total of eight screw connections, which are in turn equipped with plus-minus screws for automated processes. The housing is optionally available with an FE contact to the mounting rail. The "CH20M6" offers up to 100% more front surface area when compared with other 6 mm wide housings. The operating level or rather the user access interface offers individual and generous configuration options. And on top of that: there is the hinged and snap-shut lid with flush inlaid recess for device markers.
The electronics have also been produced with efficiency in mind; for example, the connection elements as well as the optional SMD-bus contact block can be processed automatically with the component assembly in a single SMT fabrication process. Manual reworking is no longer required when utilising the "CH20M6". The 6-mm housing has been designed with the future-oriented reflow soldering process in mind. Made from high-temperature resistant LCP plastic the THR connection elements are dimensionally stable and can be placed directly from the belt and processed on the assembly panel during the reflow soldering process. The PCB is very generously dimensioned with all of the 7400 mm² placement area available for use – without any design restrictions. That means the largest amount of usable space for a 6 mm housing is available to the designer. There is presently no 6 mm electronics housing available on the market with more available space. Requiring no tools, the housing elements are securely snapped together with the completed component assembly. The "CH20M6" does away with the run-of-the-mill standard market solution of soldering the connection technology to the electronics component assembly.
True to the motto supply, connect, distribute the "CH20M" electronics housing system allows the development engineer to add an optional mounting rail bus. Comprising five conductor tracks the mounting rail bus is simply integrated in the TS 35 top-hat rail (standard heights: 7.5 and 15 mm to DIN EN 60715) to replace costly individual wiring. The five bus tracks are implemented as follows: two power tracks, rated up to 5 A, a signal track and two data tracks. The mounting rail bus represents an uninterruptable and flexible system solution.
