Only in rare cases is there an area available for a wind farm which permits a regular, screen-like arrangement of the turbines. Much more frequently, the installation locations are within small, irregular fields or mountain-side meadows. This places special challenges on the construction of communication structures, as the wind turbines are separated from each other at varied distances.

Weidmüller's switches are ideally suited to create the connections between the wind turbines because they are fitted with a number of combinable interfaces that can be used with different media and therefore bridge over distances. Furthermore they allow a simple way to incorporate different versions into interlocked rings.
