Initial situation

The Chinese manufacturer Dongfang needed to create a constellation of seven different electrical cabinets to solve the challenge of providing electrical pitch control for wind power facilities. Since it takes a lot of cable to connect the switching units, they were looking for a compact solution that could be installed reliably and quickly. The components installed in the pitch system also needed to be extremely resistant to shock since some of them would be located directly on the DC servo-motor.

Solution

With their die-cast aluminium housing and stainless-steel interlock system, RockStar® heavy-duty connectors are in complete compliance with the strict requirements on lifespan, corrosion resistance and shock resistance. As a special service, Weidmüller delivers the heavy-duty connectors complete with cabling. This accelerates the commissioning and configuration processes at the electrical cabinet.

Dongfang, a manufacturer of steam turbines in China, uses Weidmüller's heavy-duty connectors in their pitch systems for wind power plants.
