Initial situation

Terminal blocks with fuse functionality are the preferred choice for processing facilities when connecting and distributing signals and data from field sensors and actuators – and this is what Spectra Energy needed for their new natural gas facility. The US company had issues with panel space and was searching for an adequate solution.

Solution

Weidmüller presented its new Weidmüller Multi-Functional (WMF) terminal block series to Spectra Energy and the responsible EPC Worley Parsons for use in the new natural gas facility. The WMF stood out from the traditional terminal solutions because it used significantly less space. With a width of 5 mm and consequently just 10 mm per signal circuit, the user benefits from the very dense wiring and saves much installation space on the mounting rail.
