Initial situation
Liebherr is one of the largest manufacturers of construction machinery in the world. They are also recognised in many industries as a supplier of technically superior, beneficial products and services. When designing its Litronic tower crane, Liebherr was in need of a compact module for switching actuators.
Solution
The Litronic tower cranes are completely controlled by a PLC controller which uses relay couplers from Weidmüller’s MICROSERIES. These are only 6.1 mm in width and need very little space on the mounting rail. MICROSERIES is perfect for use between controllers and actuators for the task of switching small to mid-sized loads. Level conversions and switching amplifiers can also be easily designed in.
