Additional Software

The Weidmüller Switch Configurator software allows you to easily update the firmware of a configurable Weidmüller switch. This program also allows you to save and upload complete configurations, and also change the IP address on the switch.

Explanation of the Firmware Update Process

Note

You may download the latest Firmware from the Weidmüller website using the following path:

Open www.Weidmueller.com/Downloads
Select page “Software”
Select page “Industrial Ethernet”
Select category “Value and Premium Line managed Switches – Firmware Updates”
Select the entry “IE-SW-PL16M-Series” for Firmware download

Note: The unzipped Firmware file has the extension *.rom

Keep your IE-SW-PL16M up to date with the latest firmware from Weidmüller. Perform the following steps to upgrade the firmware:

Download the updated firmware (*.rom) file from the Weidmüller website as described above.
Click the switch (from the Weidmüller Switch Configuration Utility window) whosefirmware you wish to upgrade to highlight it.

Click the Upgrade Firmware toolbar icon , or select Upgrade under the Firmware menu. If the switch is Locked, you will be prompted to input the switch’s User Name and Password.
Use the Open window to navigate to the folder that contains the firmware upgrade file, andthen click the correct “*.rom” file (then click the correct “*.rom” file (IE-SW.rom in the example shown below) to select the file. Click Open to activate the upgrade process.
