Power over Ethernet switches and industrial Ethernet WLAN module

Tailor made industrial Ethernet solutions for specific communication applications

Power over Ethernet switches reduce the need for cables by supplying power over the data cable to PoE compatible terminal devices. The WLAN modules are used for connecting Ethernet devices into your wireless infrastructure, providing safety and reliability for moveable or difficult to reach applications.

Power over Ethernet switches

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches supply PoE compatible Ethernet components with the necessary operating voltage in parallel to the data traffic and on the same cable path. WLAN access points, IP telephones or IP cameras are typical PoE compatible components.

Routing data and power transmissions in parallel significantly reduces wiring requirements. All PoE switches can be operated from 24 V and feed power to PoE enabled Ethernet devices with up to 30 W input power.

The managed version also enables remote on/off functionality and resetting of connected PoE devices via SNMP, WEB Interface or via HMI/SCADA systems in combination with SNMP OPC.

24 V power supply for PoE

To enable simple integration in standard electrical cabinets, the PoE voltage can be provided by a wide range input between 24 to 48 V.

IEEE 802.3at/af compatibility

The extended power rating of 30 W per PoE port allows to connect PoE devices with power requirements exceeding 15 W.

Additional PoE functionality

For more control of field functions such as switching PoE ports on/off the managed versions offer status control of PoE end devices including alarm signalling and power consumption restriction.

All-purpose usage

Managed and unmanaged versions offer universal deployment options for PoE switches.

Less wiring overhead

The power supply of PoE compatible end devices comes from the data cable (such as WLAN access points); this reduces the wiring work.

Safe and versatile for integrating Ethernet devices into WLAN topologies

Wireless communications are preferred when working with moveable applications or difficult to reach areas. Weidmüller's versatile WLAN module can be used as an access point, bridge or client. It is quite simple to integrate into existing infrastructures because it has an alternative Power over Ethernet supply (using the data cable for the power supply).

Support for RADIUS services and WPA2 secure encryption guarantees that your data is fully protected.

Multiple wireless zones can be set up so that clients can move with versatility by quickly handing over between the different radio/wireless cells.

Multiple zones can be specified (multiple SSIDs) and different VLANs can be assigned for each wireless cell. This allows you to implement a one to one forwarding of the cable based infrastructure to the wireless zone.

Wide area wireless radio range

Mobile clients can use turbo roaming to quickly switch between wireless cells with no risk that the connection can be interrupted.

Optimised security

WPA/WPA2 encryption and RADIUS server authentication (IEEE 802.1X) prevents any unauthorised access to the wireless networks.

All purpose integration

With multi-SSID, VLAN, quality of service and wireless multimedia, these modules are perfect for integration and use in existing networks.

Easy to integrate

Power can be supplied to the device using Power over Ethernet or redundant power connections. The redundant power supply ensures that the WLAN module can operate continually with no interruptions.

Extended diagnostics

The device features a signal strength display which helps you to align the antenna – thus simplifying installation. The integrated DI/DO contacts can be used for monitoring and alert functions.
