MCZ R TRAK relay couplers

Terminal-block relay technology designed especially for the railway industry

Weidmüller has developed its relay couplers MCZ R TRAK with a choice of changeover or normally-closed contacts especially for the railway industry. This industry places stringent demands on technology due to the fact that the components used are confronted with the toughest of ambient conditions. These include being mechanically shaken, shock and vibration or self resonance as well as high temperature and the negative effects of weather conditions. Designed to cope with these kinds of conditions, the MCZ R TRAK relay couplers enable interference-free and non-interacting transmission of all signals. Consequently they can be used to set up defined interfaces. These are able to reliably separate and couple digital input and output signal circuits. Moreover, the relay couplers can be used for switching tasks or as switching amplifiers.

Depending on the version, MCZ R TRAK relay couplers operate on the input side with voltages between 24 and 110 V DC. The standard version is a relay with changeover contact. The user is therefore able to make use of three functions: changeover (CO), make (NO) and break (NC). The integrated relay can switch switching currents up to 6 A with ease.Permissible ambient temperatures can range between -25°C to +70°C and even +80°C for ten minutes. Thus the relay couplers fulfil EN 50155, class T3 standards.

MCZ R TRAK relay couplers are suited to the requirements of the railway technology and signalling technology.

There are relay coupler versions available with changeover and make contacts as well as changeover with gold contacts. All variants are equipped with green LEDs for visual monitoring of the function. Moreover, the MCZ R TRAK relay couplers convince through their 6-mm width which allows for a space-saving application.

Customised to the requirements of the railway industry

Weidmüller's MCZ R TRAK relay couplers are perfectly suited to the requirements of the railway technology and signalling technology:

  • During voltage interruptions, they fulfil the requirements category S2 according to EN 50155 (guaranteed function up to 10 ms) and vibration requirements according to EN 61373, requirements category 1 class B.
  • The relay couplers still function flawlessly during voltage fluctuations ranging from -30% to +25%, and +/- 40% for as long as 0.1 s.
