WI-Manager, the FDT/DTM frame application

The WI-Manager is device-management software which supports the FDT (Field Device Tool) standard. This vendor independent universal software can be used for process and factory automation. It can manage all device drivers that are available through their DTM (Device Type Manager). The DTM permits access to device data with a graphical user interface (GUI) that offers the user a variety of functions such as configuration, operation and monitoring of devices. WI-Manager helps to reduce the costs related to planning and maintaining the devices in a facility.

With parameterizable electronic products Weidmüller consequently focuses on FDT technology and offers both, an own FDT-frame, the WI-Manager, and DTMs for all future devices. This guarantees that Weidmüller products can be used straightforward in complex systems. ACT20X has already been supplied with DTMs which can be used with any FDT-frame.

The WI-Manager software provides total support for FDT 1.2.1 functions. As such, it is both state-of-the-art and backwards compatible.

Universal network topology

WI-Manager supports all communication protocols though their corresponding DTMs.

Connected networks and products are automatically detected and displayed by means of the SCAN func­tion. This makes planning and initial commissioning easier.

Integrated security

The WI-Manager user administration allows access to be limited to uncritical device functions. This increases the overall safety and security of the facility.
