Wiring robots as specified by AIDA
Weidmüller presents for the first time a seamless, harmonised wiring concept for the transmission of energy, signals and data in automotive engineering – with components being designed according to the requirements of AIDA (Automation Initiative of German Automobile Manufacturers).
This new installation system for wiring robots offers a seamless concept responding to the PROFINET guidelines and reducing assembly times by approx. 50 %. It consists of a number of harmonised components for the wiring of tube packets, allowing the user to connect, per “plug & play”, the three basic elements of industrial automation – energy, signals, data – thus realising an integrated solution.
Connectors and metal housings have a robust design suitable for harsh applications. They are provided with RJ45 modules with STEADYTEC® technology thus increasing the number of plug-in positions in one channel. The PROFINET specification limits the number of plug-in positions to six. Each additional plug-in into a category-5 channel deepens electrical losses and affects the complete transmission line. Weidmüller counts on category-6a RJ45 components because these have considerably higher system reserves for the transmission of data than category-5 components.
