EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is an open standard for industrial networks, initiated by Rockwell Automation and ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Asscociation). Its function is the transmission of cyclic E/A data and noncyclic parameters, standardized according to the international series of standards IEC 61158. Especially on the North American market as well as in the peripherals of Rockwell controls EtherNet/IP is a common industrial communication standard.
