Purchasing Organisation

Weidmüller divides Purchasing into three areas: Non-Production, Commodity Management and Category Management.

Purchasing Organisation

Lead Buyers have global responsibility for certain product groups in Purchasing: they are responsible for the strategy and organisation of a product group. Lead Buyers also act as "Team Leaders" for the responsible Product Group Buyers assigned to them at Weidmüller locations.

Non Production

The Non-Production Purchasing Group buys materials and services which have no direct connection with the sold product. This includes investments in buildings, office supplies, fixtures and fittings, machines and systems, and ongoing supplies of energy and telecommunication services. This also includes all strategic requirements of the IT, Marketing and Communication Departments.

Commodity Management

Commodity Managers are responsible for pooling effects and optimum use of procurement markets involving different product lines.

Category Management

Category Managers in the Purchasing Department are assigned to the individual Weidmüller product lines as Key Accounts and provide support in two main areas: firstly, they play an active role in innovation projects and, secondly, are responsible for procurement markets relating to product lines.
